Results Announcement of ‘Green Pakistan’

Green Pakistan’ activity proved to be a green landmark in developing our society as environment friendly Pakistani nation. Thousands of students joined the activity along with their families with a commitment to develop and beautify ‘Pakistan’ and learned newer modern ways of environmental conservation.

We at Green Living Pakistan extend our gratitude to everyone who joined ‘Green Pakistan’ with the spirit of developing our beloved homeland into a Cleaner and Greener country. As recognition Green Living Pakistan is going to present a Participation Certificate to each Green Angel (participating student) to recognize your remarkable step forward. Besides this, there are hundreds of more prizes, some of those are mentioned below, but remaining are to be communicated to the respective campuses through emails, due to shortage of space here.

We believe, the real achievement of ‘Green Pakistan‘ is to bring about a positive change in the society regardless of the the prizes and rewards, as, these are the minor part of the great success which we are making together to beautify our homeland and wonderful planet. We thank all of our Green Partners; the schools’ directors, administrators, the teachers, dear Green Angels and obviously the parents – for their commitment to make a Greener Pakistan.

During the next few days we are going to complete the process of informing every participating campus by email about each campus’ results and prizes.

We have arranged to send all prizes to the respective campuses within the month of March. If a campus doesn’t receive its respective prizes during this time, please contact our programme team to help us taking an appropriate measure.

‘Green Pakistan’ Activity

Green Living Pakistan introduced Green Pakistan activity for the students from preschool to 12th grade to transform individuals’ potential in making our beloved homeland Cleaner and Greener. Green Pakistan has been a highly creative and jointly organised activity which inspired students and their families to develop their homes into eco-homes having the capacity of generating renewable energy, meeting the fresh water needs, producing zero waste and generating bio-fuel for domestic use. With the help provided by the GLA’s guidebooks the families can easily change their focus to sustainability by bringing simple changes in their lifestyles to make a big and long lasting difference at national level.

According to an estimate, if 25% families in Pakistan develop sustainable lifestyles, as suggested in the GLA’s guidebooks, most of the environmental issues could successfully be addressed by year 2025

Green Pakistan is part of our 3rd five yearly campaign ‘Collective Action to Address Climate Change’ (CATCH 2017-21) which aims at imparting practical Environmental Education firstly to students and then from students to their families and thereby to all societal segments. ‘Green Pakistan’ offers basic environmental science concepts, especially how human activity has led to climate change and environmental degradation, and how our focused and planned action could effectively address the challenge. Such an inspiration developed by the activity has great potential of transforming the lives of the young Green Angels and their families in inspiring them to step forward as a successful and unified nation.

To recognise the commendable role performed by the Green Angels in environmental conservation, this time GLA has planned a wide range of prizes and awards for the participants which include Rs. 100,000 Cash Prize, Laptops, LED Monitors, Laptop Cooling Systems/ Stands, Gold and Silver Medals, Green Pakistan Insignias and Honour Shields. In making the activity even more inspiring GLA has announced ‘Green Pakistan’ Certification for every participant of the activity.

Significance of Practical Activities

Recent studies indicate that students are more receptive to learning when their surroundings and activities complement and reinforce their curricular subjects. For example, if students are taught the principles of recycling and waste reduction and there are no efforts being made to reduce waste, it is unlikely that the lessons taught will have a significant effect. However, in many cases when recycling is taught in conjunction with an existing waste reduction programme, or if students start reusing paper or implement other sustainable practices, they will better understand resource management and change their behaviour at school and at home.

After joining a Practical Environmental Programme, individuals overwhelmingly express a feeling that they must take action to reduce greenhouse gases and thereby to stop global warming. These actions include telling their families and friends to know about environmental conservation, trying to help others understand the issue, reducing their own energy use, or working for community-wide changes in the way we produce energy. In the guidebooks of our green activities, we provide examples and guidelines to help Green Angels and their families in brainstorming their own action plans to be executed in individual and collective action projects. Each category’s guidebook provides examples to create greater awareness for the issue and to help the entire family to join green activities to reduce carbon. This bestows the families in building their action plans according to their specific environmental conditions in making those really practical and result oriented for them.
